     The crossing between the city of Cananeia and the bay of Paranagua city provide the contact with the one of the best preserved regions of the Atlantic rainforest of the Brazil, formed by a great estuary and surrounded by mangrove. The region has deserted beaches, is inhabited by dolphins, otters, yellow-bellied alligators, purple-faced parrots, black lion face monkey and others animals. Its vast mangrove swamps are visited by spoonbills, herons, red guaras, kingfishers, among many other birds. The Atlantic rainforest still offers river and waterfall baths to refresh.

Expedition Itinerary:

 

  • DAY 01: ARRIVE GRU/BR.

06:00 – Arrival in Guarulhos Airport/BRAZIL.

09:00 – Departure for Cananéia/SP.

14:00 – Expected arrival in Cananéia.

16:00 – City tour.

 

  • DAY 02: CARDOSO ISLAND STATE PARK.

08:00 – Breakfast.

09:00 – Start of the paddling (20 nautical miles) to the “Caiçara Village” of Marujá at Cardoso Island State Park. The “Caiçaras” are the person who lives on the coast of São Paulo state since the colonization. They have them own culture.

14:00 – Expected arrival in Marujá village.

 

  • DAY 03: CARDOSO ISLAND STATE PARK.

07:00 – Breakfast.

08:00 – Today we will walk 8 miles to the natural swimming pool crossing the beach of Lages, one of the most beautiful deserted beaches in Brazil.

18:00 – Return to Marujá.

 

  • DAY 04: SUPERAGUI NATIONAL PARK.

08:00 – Breakfast.

09:00 – Start of the paddling (30 na. miles) to the beach at the Superagui National Park passing through the beautiful mangrove swamp.

16:00 – Expected arrival in Superagui Village, another “caiçara” settlement.

 

  • DAY 05: HONEY ISLAND.

08:00 – Breakfast.

09:00 – Start of the paddling (6,0 na. miles) to the Honey Island.

11:00 – Expected arrival in Honey Island.

 

  • DAY 06: HONEY ISLAND.

08:00 – Breakfast.

09:00 – Let’s spend the day on the beaches of the Honey Island.

 

  • DAY 07: GUARAQUEÇABA.

08:00 – Breakfast.

09:00 – Start of the paddling (15 na. miles) to Guaraqueçaba city, passing through some deserted beaches and beautiful mangrove swamp.

12:00 – Expected arrival in Guaraqueçaba. Check-in Bamabuza Inn.

14:00 – Let’s visit the Salto Morato Nature Reserve.

18:00 – Return to the Inn

 

  • DAY 08: PARANAGUA, ANTONINA, MORRETES and CURITIBA CITIES

08:00 – Breakfast.

09:00 – In the morning we will visit the cities of Paranagua and Antonina.

13:00 – Lunch in Morretes city where we also will take the train to Curitiba city.

15:00 – Departure of the train.

18:00 – Arrival in Curitiba.

20:00 – Dinner in the traditional Italian neighborhood “Santa Felicidade”.

 

  • DAY 09: CURITIBA

08:00 – Breakfast.

09:00 – City tour in Curitiba city, capital of Paraná State.

13:00 – Lunch.

14:00 – Departure to Iporanga city.

19:00 – Expected arrival in Iporanga city.

  • DAY 10: IPORANGA (Ribeira River Highlands Touristic State Park).

08:00 – Breakfast.

09:00 – Let’s visit some caves in the PETAR (www.petaronline.com.br).

17:00 – Expected return to the Inn

  • DAY 11: IPORANGA/SP – DEPARTURE GRU.

09:00 – Breakfast and free morning.

11:00 – Leaving the Inn to the Guarulhos Airport.

 

 

WHAT'S INCLUDED: ground and boat transportation, guide, insurance, canoes or kayaks, lifeguard jacket, paddles, 09 lodging with breakfast in lodges and Inns, and all daily actives. Meals and beverage are not included except the lunch in Morretes city and the Farewell Dinner in Curitiba city. Price per person in double room.

 

WHAT'S TO BRING: waterproof bag of 40 Liters per person, flashlight, camera, paddling clothes, dry clothes, mask and snorkel, fin, sunscreen, mosquito repellent and cap.

*This expedition is recommended for more experienced paddlers because the distances paddling are around 25 nautical miles day.
